This post was originally written in May of 2022. I decided to share it again today because, as of 8:15 AM, both of my children are now in school. Last year, the start of the school year brought anxiety about my son being in a classroom, but I was calmed by the reality that at least one of my children remained at home and safe with me. Now, they’re both in a school building, and I have to accept that I have no control over their safety 180 days out of the year. I wanted to share this post once more because I don’t believe that’s a reality any parent or caregiver should ever have to accept…not to this degree.
